한국에 오신 것을 환영합니다! South Korea is known officially as the Republic of Korea. It is on the southern half of the Korean peninsula in East Asia, right under North Korea. Korea is known for K-Pop, K-BBQ, and K-Beauty. If you want to just read the posts that I wrote, skip down to the part at the end that says “ARTICLES“.
History
Korea has a pretty long history that I would need to take more time to study, so here is a video I found helpful:
Currency
The currency used in South Korea is the South Korean Won (KRW). They have coins and bills. Their bill system is different from the US and Europe, but you’ll get the hang of it pretty quickly. A rough (very rough) estimate of conversion is 1 USD is 10,000 KRW (don’t quote me on that). For a better conversion, use a currency exchange website like xe.com or a money transfer service (and occasionally a bank depending on the currency) like Wise (I love to use Wise when I travel if they have the currency available).
Language
The official language of South Korea is Korean. They use a writing system called Hangul, but in big cities and in metro stations you will find names in “English” (a.k.a the romanized spelling). Here are a few phrasebooks I found on Amazon:
