The Berlengas Archipelagos is made up of one big island – Berlenga Grande – and 2 groups of smaller islands. The only island of the archipelago that you can visit is Berlenga Grande, where you can tour the caves and take a walking hiking tour; and that’s exactly what we did. We woke up at about 6:30am but our tour tickets for 10am and to drive up to Peniche, where we catch a ferry to the island (Berlenga Grande is about 15 kilometers off of the coast of Peniche, Portugal). We drove up about 2 hours from our home and got to Peniche at about 9:30. After checking in with the tour company, we walked around a bit and then made our way to the ferry. It was about a 30-minute ride through semi-turbulent waves. When we arrived to the island, we went up the small invite to a restaurant where we waited for our caves tour in a glass-bottom boat.
